Online meeting beforehand with avalanche knowledge. Date & link will be sent out a couple of weeks before.
Day 1
We meet in Idre and start the day with a coffee & intro before heading out into the mountains where you will learn how the equipment works, technique for going uphill and skiing downhill. We have plenty of time for questions. The goal of the day is that you feel confident with your equipment and know how it works. We also practice avalanche search. We do a tour in the nearby area.
Day 2
We start the day with an hour or so of theory focusing on tour planning. Then we head out on a longer tour. We look at route choices both uphill and downhill and the terrain along the way, and discuss in the group why we make the choices we do. The goal is that as a participant you understand how to set up a tour, both in planning and out in the terrain.
Day 3
Today we do a nice tour that the participants help plan. Which summit it will be is decided according to weather and conditions – a surprise, in other words! Participants also help with choosing the route and breaking trail during the tour. The goal is that after the day you feel confident to head out on a simple tour on your own. We finish the day at 15:00–16:00, in good time to be able to travel home the same evening.
Please note that the program may be adjusted due to weather conditions.

Prerequisites
You do not need any previous knowledge of ski touring or off-piste skiing. This is a course for beginners. If you can ski blue/red slopes, that is good, as we will not ski anything steeper than that. You also need to have sufficient fitness to be out on a tour for about 4–6 hours in one day at a relaxed pace with a light backpack.
